What’s brand got to do with it?

I’m borrowing that line from Tina Turner with just a little twist but what does brand have to do with the marketing efforts of a nonprofit? Just about everything.

Here’s an example. I’m currently working with a nonprofit that needed a whole brand identity so people would know exactly who they are and what they are trying to achieve. The nonprofit just wanted to focus on media relations activities. Media relations is an important aspect of brand but if you don’t have a great website, collateral materials that look like they belong to the website and a consistent message, you do not have a successful brand. And successful brands raise big dollars.

So think about your brand and realize that to be successful so many pieces have to positively reflect your singular message.
